Elaborating the Evolutionary Understanding Men's Conspicuous Consumption: Life History and Extended Phenotype

Abstract

Participants demonstrated an intuitive understanding that some male conspicuous displays function as mating effort rather than predicting paternal investment. Male luxury displays associated with high mating effort may mimic the properties of male secondary sexual characteristics across species and may be more prevalent in environments fostering faster life histories.
