Abstract

This study is the first to test implicit learning of tetrachords. Musicians (N=72) were divided into four groups, each hearing music predominated by a different tetrachord. Participants then rated all tetrachord-types on how often they occurred within familiarization. Data suggests that the frequent tetrachord was learned, regardless of consonance/novelty.
