Abstract

We examined differences in perceived intensity of male and female facial expressions of emotion. Our findings demonstrate a bias in perceived intensity of emotions, specifically, female photographs were perceived as significantly more intense for angry, disgust, happy, sad, and scared emotions. There was no gender bias for the surprised emotion.
