Abstract

We compared how accurately causal and relational headlines matched the research presented in Google Health News articles and how accurately consumers could determine if the headlines matched the research. Cumulatively, only 31.2% (causal) and 52.8% (relational) of articles were accurately presented by the media AND accurately interpreted by the readers.
