Abstract

In an emotion recognition task involving threatening and non-threatening conditions, diffusion modeling revealed that aggression related to greater impulsivity (particularly under threat), heightened ability to extract anger-related information under non-threat, and slower stimulus encoding/motor response execution. The findings identify novel cognitive mechanisms driving aggressive individuals’ aberrant patterns of emotion recognition.
