Let the Kid Speak: Exploring the Dynamics of Triadic Medical Interactions Involving Pediatric Patients

Abstract
Audio-recordings of triadic medical interactions (N = 28) between doctors, pediatric patients, and patients’ parent(s) were analyzed using a qualitative approach. Findings reveal nuances in physicians’ interaction style with pediatric patients, distinct from those often found within the dyadic doctor-patient exemplar. Effects of patients’ age are also explored.
