Abstract

This research explored the evolutionary underpinnings of prospective memory (PM) through survival processing PM intention encoding. Contrary to expectations, survival processing did not yield superior PM performance compared to standard PM encoding. Findings suggest that the survival processing effect typically found in retrospective memory may not extend to PM.
