Evaluating Academic Dishonesty As a Function of Gender Bias and Regulatory Focus

Abstract

This study examined judgements of academic dishonesty as a function of gender and regulatory focus. Cases where accused parties used prevention-focused explanations were evaluated more positively. Important interactions with gender for several variables including seriousness of incident and trust were found. More extreme consequences were recommended for promotion explanations.
