Re-Examining the Implicit Inversion Theory: Do Age and Sexual Orientation Impact Gender Belief Systems?

Abstract

We examine whether age and sexual orientation impact peoples’ gender-stereotypic beliefs for target attributes, traits, and roles. The experiment was conducted online using a 2 (Gender) X 2 (Sexual Orientation) X 2 (Age: 25 or 65) between subjects design. MANOVA results revealed significant interactions between age, gender, and sexual orientation.
