Abstract

The role phonotactics play in speech segmentation is often overlooked. Across 4 experiments, subtle differences in phonotactic probability affected speech segmentation and perceptual processing in Brazilian-Portuguese adults. Results suggest a need to consider phonotactic probability when designing speech segmentation tasks.
