Abstract

We explored whether personal and academic experience with mental illness (MI) influenced levels of minority student stigma at an HBCU. Seven stigma factors were examined for Depression, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia. Prior experiences largely improved views about MI treatability, anxiety, or relationship disruption, but with unique stigma profiles by disorder.
