Abstract

Sexual goals vary in their focus (hedonic or intimate) and scope (individual or dyadic). We use the framework of Construal Level Theory in a relationship context to understand how psychological orientation towards superordinate relational needs (high-level construal) and subordinate individual-level needs (low-level construal) is associated with differential sexual goal focus.
