Abstract

Prior studies have independently shown that urban tree canopy and social cohesion are negatively associated with crime levels. Here we find that tree canopy, neighborhood social cohesion, and number of park visits, while all positively correlated, each contribute uniquely to predicting decreased crime in Chicago.
