Metaphors for God: God Is Associated with Both Brightness and Vertical Space in Reaction-Time Tasks

God is referred to in terms of light, verticality, and humanness. People use these concrete terms to represent the abstract concept of God. In multiple reaction-time studies, we found implicit associations between God and brightness and verticality. The effects were not moderated by religiosity or belief in God.
