Grit Can Hurt You

Abstract
Using either difficult or unsolvable Sudoku problems, we examined the two sides of grit in solving Sudoku problems. Grit was measured by the time spent on difficult/unsolvable items. While grit was conducive to solving difficult problems, it had a negative influence on subsequent problem-solving after participants encountered unsolvable problems.
