A Bubble of Protection: Dispositional Optimism Moderates the Deleterious Association between Negative Work-Family Spillover and One’s Mental Health and Wellbeing

Based on a nationally-representative sample of 1372 working midlife adults in the U.S., dispositional optimism was found to moderate the deleterious associations of negative work-family spillover with one’s mental health and subjective wellbeing, with individuals higher in dispositional optimism experiencing significantly lesser depressive symptoms and greater subjective wellbeing.
