Abstract

Taking a memory test caused participants to doubt their memory ability. Providing positive performance feedback assuaged doubts but did not affect performance on a subsequent memory test. Although we expected greater responsivity to feedback among inconsistently-handed individuals, who are theorized to update their beliefs more readily, this was not observed.
