The Relationship between Facial Expression, Communication, and Task Difficulty

Abstract

Language productivity and facial expressions were compared in individuals completing various tasks differing on complexity level. Comparing expressivity during the two interviews, a trend was observed where individuals completing more difficult tasks not only decrease their verbal language output but also produced fewer facial expressions, suggesting the importance of context.
