Abstract
Support for drug-testing programs for public assistance recipients increases with moralistic attitudes towards addiction, stigmatizing attitudes towards poverty, and retributive moral foundations. Testing support decreases if addiction etiology is perceived as medical or social. Additionally, moral foundations of harm, care, and fairness (not including equity) predicted less support for testing.
