Learning the Norms of a New Culture: Its All in the Mind(set)

People are motivated to learn the norms of new culture to the extent they believe they can master another culture. Five studies show that people with a more growth mindset about their ability to learn new cultures are quicker at learning foreign situational norms through trial-and-error feedback across 50-80 trials.
