Abstract

Oral communication competency is critical for promoting college student success. Researchers investigated the relationship between attitudes toward communication and motivational factors on students’(N=1273) communication competency. Controlling for demographic characteristics, fixed mindset and task-approach goal orientation significantly predicted performance on the test. Implications for higher education will be discussed.
