Abstract

Recruiting for military service is a highly stressful job that is critical for an all-volunteer force. In a stratified random sample of N=817 U.S. Army recruiters, personality hardiness predicted supervisor-rated performance. Hardiness interacts with active coping to predict psychological well-being. These results can help improve policy for training military recruiters.
