Victim Vs. Survivor: The Role of Label in Descriptions of Women Who Were Sexually Assaulted

Abstract

Rape is omnipresent in human societies. The present research aims to examine the stigma attached to the labels used to address women who were raped. Our findings suggest that the label “survivor” is assumed as a more positive label than “victim”, though it too has stigma associated with it.
