How Social Identity Influences Social and Emotional Loneliness

Abstract
This research explored the influence of social identity salience on one's loneliness. An experiment was conducted in which college students were randomly assigned to a social identity group (college student) or 1 of 3 control conditions.Results indicated social identity group had lower levels of loneliness compared to the control conditions.
