Abstract

We studied repetitive negative thinking (RNT) and mindful nonjudging as concurrent mediators of stress appraisal – depression/anxiety relationships in 233 undergraduates. RNT and mindful nonjudging mediated all relationships, establishing their transdiagnostic role in respectively exacerbating and alleviating mental distress. Our findings could inform interventions to decrease mental distress in undergraduates.
