Unlearning: How Prior Knowledge Can Be Maladaptive for Learning and Behavioral Change

One challenge in adapting to novel situations is the fact that we already have prior knowledge about the world. While prior learning is often adaptive, situations that require us to unlearn prior knowledge can be quite challenging. Here we discuss what we know about unlearning and how to foster it.
