Perpetual Competition: Challenging the Developmental Outcome-to-Intent Shift in Moral Judgment

Friday, May 25, 2018 · San Francisco, CA

Oral · Social

The development of moral judgment is characterized by a stronger weighting of outcomes in childhood to a dominance of intentions in adulthood. Using evidence from children and adults, in clinical populations and terrorists’ judgments, we challenge this paradigm and suggest that these two factors are in competition throughout the lifespan.
