Can Good Be Worse Than Bad? Motivation and Beliefs About Positivity and Depression

This symposium will unpack recent empirical work that assesses how the belief that positivity should be avoided due to its potential harm, and the motivational tendencies that arise from this belief, can result in symptoms of depression or avoidance of treatments that aim to raise positive affect.
