Diverse Perspectives on P: A Multidisciplinary Account of General Liability to Psychopathology
Structural models of psychopathology invariably yield broadband internalizing and externalizing dimensions that load on a general liability factor (p). Explanations for p have been offered at behavioral genetic, emotion regulational, methodological, neural, and personality trait levels. We integrate these perspectives in a multidisciplinary account that offers suggestions for future research.
