To Exert or Not To Exert, That Is the Question
How do people decide to exert effort? In this symposium, we present research on effort-based decisions. In our experiments, we used behavioral tasks in which participants choose to exert physical force vs. not (e.g., to attain rewards). We address neural and psychological mechanisms, individual differences, and social implications.
