Avoidance Behavior in Anxiety and Pain Disorders

Friday, May 25, 2018 · San Francisco, CA

Oral · General

Avoidance is an adaptive response when threat is imminent, but when it (over)generalizes to safe stimuli/situations and persists despite changes in contingencies it may interfere with daily life activities and lead to disability. This symposium brings together innovative research on learning mechanisms of avoidance behavior in anxiety and pain disorders.
