Thirty Years of Self-Affirmation Theory: Understanding the Enduring Impact of Affirmation on Important Life Outcomes
Self-affirmation theory has evolved from an explanation for cognitive dissonance phenomena to a theory that informs diverse interventions. This symposium reviews affirmation theory and research on how different affirming activities affect health behaviors, educational outcomes, and stress over time. Theoretical and practical frontiers of the theory will be explored.
