Diverse God Representations Reflect Social Motivations, Values, Identity, and Political Ideology
People differ in representations of God as a personal being, impersonal force, or uncertainty about the nature or existence of God. The symposium’s studies show that these representations are differentially associated with a range of psychologically meaningful antecedents and outcomes including values, prosociality or prejudice, personal identity, and political ideology.
