Advances, Controversies, and Future Directions in the Study of Hope
Hope originally was considered synonymous with wishful thinking. Hope Theory (Snyder, 2002), however, introduced an empirical model of the construct, emphasizing its ability to motivate goal-pursuit. In this symposium, we present recent research on the mediating role of hope within differing contexts, highlight conceptual controversies, and call for future research.
