The Value of General Personality Dysfunction in the DSM–5 Alternative Model of Personality Disorder Diagnosis
The DSM-5 alternative model of personality disorder represents an evidence-based transition to personality disorder diagnosis. One limitation of the model is substantial empirical overlap between its assessment of personality dysfunction and maladaptive traits. We debate the relative merits of either eliminating dysfunction or modifying the model to address this limitation.
