The Role of Social Media in Perceptions of Police Legitimacy and Engagement in Cooperative Behaviors

Research has shown that exposure to news about policing impacted citizen’s perceptions of police legitimacy. This study aims to identify if social media impacts citizen perceptions of the police and the law. Social media use was found to moderate the relationship between perceptions of police legitimacy and cooperative law behaviors.
