Abstract

Under the pretense of rating empathy, 91 female undergraduates watched a video confederate “incidentally” consume potato chips while EEG and eye blink data was recorded. Spontaneous eye blink rate positively predicted chip consumption. The effect was moderated by frontal cortical activity, such that those with less activity ate the least.
