Abstract

Previous research shows that spending time in nature improves mood and restores attention, according to Attention Restoration Theory. We conducted multiple studies to determine whether length of time in nature moderates these restorative effects, finding that both short and long-term exposure to natural environments increases positive and reduces negative affect.
