Effects of Seat Orientation on Perception of Power in Chinese Traditional Culture

Abstract

The results showed that seat orientation (i.e., seat facing the door or seat with the backs to the door) had a solid effect on the perception of power. The position facing the door was judged more powerful (Experiment 1 and 2); this phenomenon only appeared in Chinese participants (Experiment 3).
