Does the Language Fit the Evidence? Unjustified Use of Causal Language in Psychological Scientists’ Scholarly Work

Abstract
We reviewed titles and abstracts of 660 poster presentations published in the APS 2015 program and 651 published articles from 11 psychology journals. In both samples, over half used clear causal language and, of those, less than half described a research design or findings that clearly justified the causal language.
