Abstract

Lying is often viewed as a facet of Machiavellianism. The purpose of this study was to determine which Machiavellianism factors are associated with different types of lies. Results revealed significant relationships that uniquely predicted each type of lie. Only lies used to protect others failed to have significant Machiavellianism predictors.
