Abstract

The study examined whether knowledge of the prescribed stroke sequence matters for the handwriting of a character. The results showed a significant effect of stroke instruction on the speed, legibility and quality, indicating that knowledge of the stroke sequences is important for the handwriting of Chinese characters.
