Abstract

We employed alcohol myopia theory, stating that intoxicated people’s behavior is disproportionally guided by salient cues, to investigate whether alcohol can be used to reduce (rather than enhance) risky gambling. Making low chances of winning salient led participants who consumed alcohol (vs. placebo) to take less risk in a lottery.
