Younger Recreational Drinking, Problem Use, and Relationship to Illicit Substances

Two hundred ninety-one college students completed questionnaires on alcohol problems and illicit drug use. Age of initial alcohol use predicted problems with alcohol on the Rutgers’s Alcohol Problem Index (RAPI). Higher RAPI scores predicted increased drug use problems and related to more positive thoughts about marijuana use and legalization.
