Abstract

We examined how information display attributes influence energy efficiency judgments/decisions. N=112 participants were recruited for behavioral and eye-tracking experiments using hypothetical utility bills. Eye-tracking data indicate bias for graphical representation of utility consumption over monetary cost. Behavioral results indicate significant perceptual distortion of irrelevant information in energy efficiency judgments.
