Racial Stereotypes and False Memories in Mock Jurors: The Role of Sleep

Abstract
Stereotypes can guide the formation of false memories. Here, participants watched an audio-visual trial, in which the race of the defendant and a key witness were manipulated. A subsequent memory test revealed that participants misremembered facts of the case in a way that was consistent with racial stereotypes.
