Abstract
Endorsing a growth-based implicit theory of relationships is associated with several adaptive relationship outcomes, including more stable satisfaction and commitment. Our findings experimentally demonstrate that endorsing growth theories buffers the negative effects of relationship threat on self-reported commitment and satisfaction levels in an individual’s current relationship.
