Abstract

Participants viewed videos with situation-specific content and rated them for fear, arousal, and valence. Trait phobia predicted fear to trait-relevant videos. While much work assumes the influence of phobia on fear is due to greater valence or arousal sensitivity, a significant relationship remained after accounting for mediation by these factors.
