The Functional Nature of Perceived Temporal Distance

Abstract

A between-subjects design was used to explore the newly discovered survival perceived temporal distance effect. Participants imagined a future survival event or non-survival event and made a perceived temporal distance judgement. Survival events were reported as feeling closer in time than non-survival events.
