Abstract

CFA results were compared for two simulated respondent errors: idiosyncratic response scale interpretation, and inability to differentiate between "disagree" options. Ordinal CFA produced less biased factor loadings than continuous CFA in the face of respondent imprecision. A lack of disordered thresholds suggests ordinal CFA may prevent detection of respondent imprecision
